Quiet Firing

Let’s Talk About Quiet Firing

If you’ve never heard of quiet firing, count yourself lucky.

It’s when a company doesn’t officially fire an employee… they just slowly make their work life unbearable. Responsibilities are taken away. Growth opportunities disappear. Communication dries up. Praise is replaced with silence—or worse, criticism. Eventually, the employee feels they have no choice but to quit.

It’s subtle. It’s strategic. And it’s cowardly.

I’ve experienced it myself. And I’ve coached clients through the emotional and professional fallout that follows.

Here’s the truth: Quiet firing says more about a company’s leadership than it does about the employee. It’s a tactic that avoids honest conversations, bypasses accountability, and damages culture in the process.

If you’re being quietly fired:

* Document everything.

* Protect your mental and emotional health. It’s crucial that you protect your feelings of self-worth. Know your value.

* Turn the tables and be proactive. Start exploring your next opportunity—one that values your contribution

No one should be forced out through silence.

Let’s normalize respectful exits and direct conversations. And if you’re in leadership—don’t ghost your people. They deserve better.

Have you seen quiet firing happen? Is it happening to you?

Let’s talk about it.
